In the now defunct version of Changi Airport Terminal 2, pillars in the Departure Hall were cladded in teak panels. These timber-cladded pillars provided a feeling of warmth amidst the bustling surroundings.
This teak cladding was dismantled and reconstituted into a set of serving boards which adopt the shape of an airplane tray table, a modest yet ever-present component of the air travel experience.
Taking their place at the dining table, these serving boards contribute to the warmth of family meals, just as its constituent planks once injected a feeling of warmth into Terminal 2. Their iconic shape provides an impetus to reminisce about and spark conversations on past vacations.
